Getting Started
How do I take my first assessment?
After signing in, navigate to the Dashboard and select "Start Assessment." You will be guided through a series of situational questions designed to measure your emotional intelligence across five core domains. The assessment typically takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
How does the EQ scoring work?
Your responses are evaluated against the Giroux EQ Maturity Model, which places you on a five-level scale: Developing, Emerging, Established, Advanced, and Expert. Each domain is scored independently, giving you a detailed profile of your strengths and growth areas.
What are the five EQ domains?
The Giroux framework measures five domains: Self-Awareness (understanding your own strengths and triggers), Self-Management (regulating emotions and behaviors), Social Awareness (reading organizational and team dynamics), Relationship Management (building productive working relationships), and Security Leadership (leading with emotional intelligence in security contexts).
Account & Billing
How do I change my plan?
Open Billing from the sidebar (under Account), or go to the Billing page directly. From there you can upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and annual billing. Team and cohort plans let you set the number of seats or students before checkout.
Why am I being sent to the Billing page?
Access requires a live plan. If you created an organization but did not complete checkout, or your organization's plan has lapsed, the platform sends you to Billing to choose a plan. Organizations with a plan granted by the platform team (including complimentary and trial grants) are not affected, and neither are students and professors, who are covered by their institution. If you believe this is wrong, contact support with your organization name.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Billing page and choose to cancel or manage your subscription. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing cycle.
Where are my invoices?
Your invoices are listed on the Billing page. Each one links to a downloadable PDF. If you need a custom invoice or receipt, contact our support team.
Do universities and cohorts get complimentary access?
Yes. Academic institutions can be granted a complimentary license to the platform. Our team assigns it directly to your university or cohort with a set number of student seats and no expiration, so faculty and students get full access without a paid subscription. Contact us to arrange a pilot or complimentary cohort license.
How do I set up an academic cohort?
Choose "Request a Cohort" on the pricing page (or go to /request-cohort). Tell us your institution and roughly how many students, and our team sets up your cohort — your institution, student join codes, and license. Cohorts are provisioned with a person in the loop, so this is a quick request rather than a self-serve checkout; most pilots are ready within a couple of days.
Managing Your Team
How do I create an organization for my team?
When you sign up for a team, onboarding offers a "Set Up My Organization" option. Enter your organization name and it creates your team workspace with you as the admin, then takes you to choose your team plan. From there you can invite your colleagues by email or share your join code.
How do I invite people to my organization?
Open Organization › Team (the "Invite Team" action on your organization dashboard). Use "Invite member" to send an email invitation and choose their role — they join your organization when they sign up. To invite many people at once, open Employees › Import users and upload a CSV; every valid row receives an invitation. You can see and cancel pending invitations on the Team page.
How does someone become an org admin or HR admin?
Whoever creates the organization during onboarding is its first org admin. After that, an org admin grants roles: on Organization › Team, choose "Invite member" and pick Employee, Manager, HR, or Org admin before sending, or change the role on an existing person's employee record. HR admins can invite people and manage employee records; org admins can do everything in the Organization section, including billing. The platform team can also set roles from the admin console if you are locked out.
Is there a self-serve way for people to join?
Yes. Team Management shows your organization's join code, which you can copy and share. Anyone with the code can request to join, and an admin approves them. You can enable, disable, or regenerate the join code under Settings → Organization → Access.
Why was my invitation refused with a message about seats?
A Team plan pays for a set number of seats, and members plus pending invitations cannot exceed it. When you hit the limit, the invitation is refused with the seats used and the limit, and a link to Organization › Billing where you can add seats. Cancelling a pending invitation frees its seat immediately. Organizations on a plan granted by the platform team have the seat count set on the grant; contact us to raise it.
Why does a manager see "No direct reports"?
Direct reports come from the team structure. On Organization → Team, add people to a team and use the crown icon to set the team lead; everyone on that team then reports to the lead and appears on their dashboard, My Team, Team report, and Assign training. People who already hold a manager role on a team are treated as its lead until one is set explicitly.
How do assigned assessments and 360 feedback requests reach people?
Assigning an assessment sends the person an email and an in-app notification with a link that opens the right instrument; when they submit, the assignment is marked complete and leaves both their pending list and your pending count. A 360 request notifies the rater in-app and by email. Raters answer from inside the platform, so they need an account: pick a colleague from your organization or enter the email they signed in with, and invite anyone who is not on the platform yet first.
Training & Development
How do training modules work?
Each training module follows the AWARE pedagogical model: Activate prior knowledge, Witness real-world examples, Assess your current capabilities, Rehearse through practice scenarios, and Embed the skills into daily work. Modules are self-paced and typically take 30 to 45 minutes each.
How does the EQ Coach work?
The EQ Coach is an AI mentor built on the Giroux methodology. When you open the coach inside a training module, it gives personalized guidance grounded in your own assessment scores, journal reflections, and practice history, and helps you connect the concepts to real situations you are facing. After an assessment, the coach can also produce a tailored report and answer follow-up questions about your results.
What are tabletop exercises?
Tabletop exercises are interactive crisis simulations where you make decisions through a realistic cybersecurity scenario such as a ransomware attack, insider threat, business email compromise, supply-chain compromise, or an executive board crisis. Each choice is scored on both technical judgment and emotional intelligence, with immediate feedback and a debrief, so you build decision-making under pressure. New scenarios are added regularly.
How does the Daily Challenge work?
Each day everyone receives the same short crisis scenario tied to one of the five EQ domains, with a set of options and a best answer. Completing it earns XP, protects your streak, and reinforces the skills from the training modules. The challenge library spans a full quarter of unique scenarios, so it rarely repeats.
How does the end-of-module quiz work?
Each training module finishes with a short knowledge check. Every module now draws from a bank of six to seven questions grounded in that module's own content and the Giroux methodology, so retaking a module is a genuine test rather than a memory game. You need 70% to pass and earn the module's XP, and you can review the explanation for every answer afterward.
For Educators & Students
I was invited as a professor. What happens when I click the link?
The invitation email comes from the platform and names who invited you and your institution. Clicking "Accept invitation" opens a page where you set your name and password; the link itself confirms your email address, so there is no separate verification email. You are signed in straight away and land on your Class Dashboard as a professor. If you already have an account with that email, it is upgraded to a professor account instead of creating a new one. If the link has expired, ask your administrator to resend it from Professors in the admin console.
I'm a professor — how do I set up a course?
Once your instructor account is active, open your Professor Dashboard and choose "Create Your First Course" (or "New course" if you already have one). Enter the course name, code, section, semester, and year, and the platform generates a join code automatically. Share that code with your students so they can enroll in seconds. All 15 EQ modules are assigned by default, or pick a curriculum plan to use a subset with a ready-made schedule.
How do students join my course?
Students sign up choosing the "Student" path and enter your course join code (they can also enter it after signing in). They confirm enrollment and are set up immediately — their progress, journal, assignments, and EQ growth then flow to your dashboard.
As a student, where do I see my course and progress?
Your enrolled course appears as a "Your Course" card on your dashboard, showing your professor, how many modules you have completed, and your current EQ score. You complete the modules, assessments, and tabletop exercises through the normal Training and Assessment areas, and your progress is recorded against your course automatically.
As a professor, what do I see about my students?
Your dashboard shows class-wide EQ scores and growth, module completion rates, per-student progress, and who may be at risk, plus journaling and simulation activity. These update as your students complete modules and assessments. You can also review and grade assignment submissions.
Is the platform free for educators?
Yes. Choose "Educator / Professor" when you sign up and use your institutional email (for example, you@university.edu or you@college.ca). You'll name your institution — or be added to it automatically if a colleague already set it up — and can create your first course right away, with no approval step. The free educator tier includes 100 student seats per institution.
Does it integrate with my LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace)?
Yes, via LTI 1.3. Once your LMS administrator registers the platform as an external tool, you can add EQ modules to your course as assignments straight from the LMS. Students launch them from the course with no separate login, rosters sync automatically, and completed-module scores post back to your gradebook. Ask your LMS administrator to visit Admin → LMS Integration on the platform for the setup URLs. One safeguard to know about: if you already have a platform account under the same email, your first launch from the LMS is refused until a platform admin turns on "Trust email" for that LMS registration (Admin → LMS Integration). That stops an LMS from signing anyone into an existing account on the strength of an email address alone; ask your administrator, then launch again.
I'm a program admin. What do I see?
Program admins oversee an institution rather than one class. Your sidebar has Program Overview — institution-wide outcomes (average EQ growth from baseline, share of students who improved, module completion, at-risk counts) by course and by EQ domain, with links to Research exports and the syllabus document — and Faculty, where you see every professor at your institution and their courses and can add faculty. Program admins are assigned by the platform team from the admin console; ask us when your institution is set up.
Can students share their EQ portfolio?
Yes. On the Portfolio page, the margin has "Make portfolio public". It creates a private link (a long random token) that shows your scores and growth over time — never your journal. Share it with a mentor or an employer, and choose "Stop sharing" whenever you want; the old link stops working immediately.
Is the curriculum aligned to NICE or CAE-CD standards?
Yes. Every module has measurable learning outcomes and a crosswalk to the NICE Framework (work roles and competency statements) and CAE-CD Knowledge Units. See the public Curriculum page for the full alignment. Inside a course, "Syllabus & standards" prints a syllabus document with outcomes, schedule, assessment plan, and the crosswalk — ready for a syllabus appendix or curriculum committee.
How quickly can I set up a course?
Minutes. When you create a course, choose a curriculum plan — Full Semester, Foundations, Leadership & Capstone, or Incident Response Focus — and optionally a start date. The plan sets the modules, the week-by-week schedule, and pre-builds every assignment with due dates. You just share the join code (or add it to your LMS).
How do I add my whole class?
On your Roster page, paste student emails (one per line) or a CSV export from your LMS or student system — names are picked up automatically. Students who already have an account are enrolled right away; everyone else receives a personal join-link email for your course. If your institution uses the LMS integration, rosters sync automatically instead.
Can I give feedback on student journal reflections?
Yes. On the Roster page, choose "Journal" next to a student to read the reflections they have shared and leave feedback on each entry. Journal entries are shared with the professor by default; a student can mark any entry private when writing it, and private entries are never visible to instructors.
What evidence can I show my program director or curriculum committee?
The academic admin overview opens with a program outcomes panel: average EQ growth from baseline, the share of students who improved, module completion, and at-risk counts — institution-wide, per course, and by EQ domain. Pair it with the printable Syllabus & Standards document for a complete adoption packet.
Can I use the platform data for research?
Yes. The Research Portal — reached from "Research exports" in the margin of Class Analytics (professors) or Program Overview (program admins) — exports de-identified CSVs: aggregate scores, module completion, growth trajectories, simulation outcomes, and journal themes (metadata only; journal content is never exported). Participant IDs are salted per export so files cannot be linked. It also reports Cronbach's α per EQ domain from your students' item responses. Individual-level coded data requires an approved IRB protocol and student consent; contact us.
Technical
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Click "Forgot password?" on the login page and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset link within a few minutes. If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes. On Android and desktop Chrome/Edge, use the "Add to your phone" card on your dashboard (or the browser's Install option). On iPhone/iPad, open the site in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen." You get a home-screen icon, a full-screen app, and shortcuts to the daily challenge, training, and journal. An internet connection is still required to load your progress.
The platform looks different. What changed?
The platform now uses one design throughout: an engineer's notebook rather than a dark dashboard. Every signed-in screen is paper with navy ink; the orange highlighter marks the one thing that needs your attention, numbers sit in a ledger, and the margin carries notes and the book's words. Your data, roles, and routes are unchanged. Light and dark follow your choice under Settings → Appearance (or your system setting). The public pages — home, pricing, and this help center — are next.
What is the weekly digest, and how do I stop it?
Every Monday morning you receive one email that reads your week: modules and assessments completed, journal entries, streak and badges, the one thing that needs you next (an assigned assessment, a module in progress), a practice chosen from your lowest EQ domain, and any platform announcements. To stop it, open Settings → Email notifications → My email and switch off "Weekly digest"; the same page has switches for assessment reminders and training reminders, and an "Unsubscribe from all email" switch that stops every automated message at once. Changes take effect from the next send.
How do I turn on two-factor authentication?
Open Settings → Security and choose "Enable two-factor authentication". Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (1Password, Google Authenticator, Authy, or similar), enter the six-digit code to confirm, and you are enrolled. From then on, sign-in asks for a code after your password. You can remove the authenticator from the same page. If you lose your device, contact support from the email on your account and we will reset it after verifying you.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes, both from Settings → Account. "Export my data" downloads one JSON file straight away: your profile, assessments and answers, scores, training and course work, journal, simulations, 360 requests, notifications, badges and XP, certifications, AI coaching transcripts, and your own subscriptions and invoices — nothing about other people and never card details. "Delete my account" asks you to type DELETE, then removes your account and everything in that list, signs you out, and cannot be undone; invoices stay with Stripe for its own retention period, and de-identified aggregate statistics are not affected. Deletion is refused, with the reason shown, while you are a platform administrator, the only administrator of an organization that still has members (transfer the role first), or on an active personal subscription (cancel it from Billing first). If you cannot sign in, email support@stoptrainingrobots.com from the address on your account and we will help within 30 days.
